No, there are Fridays still around! I've never been to one here, but they are around.

I'd suggest Nandos for eating chicken wings out - a lot of people like Nandos peri-peri chicken & you get your choice of several different sauces there too.
Apart from that, making your own is a great idea but if the OP is only on holiday - she may not want to do that. I agree with trying out British favourites while you're here rather than looking for American foods 'just like back home', because this isn't the US but rather somewhere else.

What about a nice curry? Bangers & mash? Toad in the hole? A bacon butty (with brown sauce)? Meat pies? British cheese & biscuits? Fish & chips? Drooooool!
One of the best things for me about being on holiday is checking out all the local foods rather than the stuff I could easily get at home.
