Gift For My DF
« on: September 22, 2004, 10:42:44 AM »
Well I am into wedding planning mode and starting to think about buying a wedding gift for my dearest. Just curious-- anyone want to share if they bought a something special?

I bought DH an mp3 player and a digital camera for a wedding gift.

I think a nice gift is a really nice watch with your wedding date engraved on the back (or some meaningful phrase or something).

lol--- I agree you were gifts enough..and truth be told I dont normally buy into the gift thing--however DF has gone so out of his way fixing everything up and making a wonderful home for me and my daughter. I would just love to do something special for him. Unfortunately he doesn't wear watches..although have considered a pocket watch...or something really unromantic like a lords of the ring thingy he wants..:)

I bought my hubby two pieces of original comic book art (both depicting Catwoman) and had them signed by the artist.

Hey, it was what he wanted.  I had them framed and they're in our living room.  They're actually quite nice.

Why spend money?  Sexual favours are usually very well received !  :o  :D

I'm giving Paul something I know he will like: an annual pass to the Sci-Fi center at EMP in Seattle (since that is where we will live after the wedding).  They even have Captin Kirk's chair, which I guess is a cool thing.

BUT--I am also giving him something that we can both enjoy.  I am making a scrap book / photo album of our life together up until the wedding.  It will have plane/train tickets, concert/movies stubs and photos as well as postcards, recipts, and brochures/business cards from places we've been around the world.  My thought was that after the rehearsal dinner, I would take him to my faviorite spot in my home-town and share the album with him.  Sort of a walk down memory lane so that we remember how it was that we came to walk down the aisle in the first place.

Thanks for all your suggestions--- I think I came up with the right idea--am not going to put it here yet though just in case he happens to peek back at this site now and then. I know he left the group--- but ya never know. Will fill ya in after the wedding.

Thanks again for everyone's input.

I bought my DH a picture sketched by a local artist. It shows the bay we walk along and for me if we ever move it will serve as a reminder of our early days together. He seemed very surprised I got him a present and especially a picture, so I'm not sure what he really thinks of it. :)

He's not a watch sort of person or I'd have gone that route.

The photographer we used has a a three tier package.  So we purchased the second tier that included pre-wedding photo shoot to get use to her style and make us feel more comfortable.  Being I was in NY and my honey was in London right before the wedding we knew we wouldn't use those pre-shoots.  So I asked her if she would take B/W's of me (along with some color) -  Boudouir Photos.  That was her speciality (prior to her becoming a wedding photographer) so she gladly did it.

So I scheduled the time/date with her and took my boudouir photos four weeks before our wedding.  I must say it was one of the most beautiful moments in my life.  It was a little un-nerving at first but after a couple of photos I was so relaxed with her it didn't matter.  One thing, even if you're inhibited in nature if you have the "right photographer" it doesn't matter.  They will bring it out in you and you'll feel sexy, beautiful and confident.

So I surprised my husband with boudouir pictures of me in photo box that looks like a book on our wedding night.  The pictures are well done and capture a moment in time when I was at my best physically, mentally and emotionally.  He treasures them and knows they are for his eyes only.  It's a priceless gift one that is timeless, intimate and only meant for him.  ;)

My DH bought me a ruby and diamond tennis bracelet which I'll wear proudly on our big day...yipes, less than a fortnight!   ;D

All I'm giving him is are Scottish cufflinks he'll need for his tartan outfit anyway...they're still in the Metro Centre; I have to wait till we go pick up his kilt before I can get them, argh!

Yvonne, What a *great* idea... I think I might just do that. Could you pass along the name of your photographer please; I also live in NY. Thank you!
