Hello from Somerset!
« on: July 31, 2012, 10:00:37 AM »
Hello there!

At last I've summoned up the courage to introduce myself.

I came to the site earlier this year when trying to work out how to get my partner over here.  She is from Texas and I'm living in Somerset, not far from Bath, Wells and Bristol.

She and I met on the internet - just over a year ago.  It was a lovely meeting and an extraordinary experience to feel so close to someone you cannot even see.   :)  Thank goodness for skype!  We were fast learners!

I planned to visit USA to have our first adventure together in November.  But we couldn't wait that long and H came over to see me in October.  We had such a great time.  And so when I went over to see her, we just carried on where we left off.  We took a beautiful road-trip from Phoenix, Arizona to Texas, including Sedona and Santa Fe.  I'd never been to USA before, so it was quite something.  I'd never seen anything to compare the landscape to and I had my mind opened wide, which I like.  H asked me to marry her in the most beautiful setting imaginable.

We entered a civil partnership in May but came a-cropper of not understanding how things work.  I am a little hampered by my health situation, which is challenging when trying to take in seemingly complex issues such as this.

H thought she had worked out a way to come over here and help me with the process of getting her over here and that went pear-shaped - only yesterday she had to return, due to our misunderstanding of the process.

I am shy, because of my health issues.  But I feel that I'll need to overcome this, if I am going to find my way though this labyrinth.  I am really grateful to you all for your contributions on here.  I am doing my best to understand things.

Thank you very much for just being here.  It helps.

All the best to all of you!

Thank you very much, Mrs. Busby!  :)

That's a very nice photo you have.

Welcome!  My husband comes from Somerset.  Don't be shy about asking for help to get your partner over here.  Most of us have been through it all already :).
On s'envolera du même quai
Les yeux dans les mêmes reflets,
Pour cette vie et celle d'après
Tu seras mon unique projet.

Je t'aimais, je t'aime, et je t'aimerai.

Hello Historyenne!

Pleased to meet you.

Thank you for your encouragement.

Yes, it's good to bear (sp) in mind that most people here have been through it all already.

And that's a beautiful quote you have as your signature!
