July 13, 2006... my dog and I landed at Gatwick to start our new life in Brum. My British wife who I met in 1984 when she was illegally working in an Austin Tex-Mex restaurant had gone ahead to find our new home. We came primarily to look after her mom who just lost her husband, my wife's dad. She's gone now and so is the dog and six years have passed in a flash.
I'm Bruce, a 63 y.o. retired guy on a UK settlement visa. Love living here and giving British citizenship serious thought. Actually, found this site a couple of weeks ago while researching citizenship. I love to cycle and belong to two clubs. Cycling the country lanes is a fantastic way to truly see this beautiful country. When not cycling I restore old tube/valve radios and hi-fi gear and flog it on ebay to support my hobby.
I love music of all kinds and generally get back to Austin in March for SXSW. It's a great time there as spring is full on and it's good to visit family & friends while enjoying festive Austin. We still have a house there that we rent but home is now here.
I look forward to hanging out here and hope to gain some advice from others who decided to become British citizens.
