Our new kitty, Nishi
« on: July 19, 2012, 01:19:11 PM »
Ok, who needs some kitty photo love today? :)

As you may remember, our wonderful, amazing, unique, beloved, incredible cat Bosco died very suddenly in April when he went to sleep and just didn't wake up. And our boat has felt really empty ever since, and my husband was on the lookout for another kitty, preferably a long haired male cat that wasn't black (as we're not trying to replace our Bosco). We got an email chain a few weeks ago of someone whose cat was knocked up my the neighbourhood tom and we went to see their tiny 3 week old kitties, thinking we'd take one of the black & white long haired boys.

But the tiny little runt of the litter just stole our hearts and chose us, falling asleep in my lap and climbing all over James.

(arrrgh it's not letting me embed the photos, even with the correct BBcode, sorry!!)

So we said we'd give him a home, only to find out 4 weeks later that he's a she! So we ended up with a short-haired, black female kitty. :) Such is life, you don't choose who you fall in love with! So we brought her home last week, at 8 weeks old, and she's just a barrel of love, personality, laughs, and spazz.

After a few days, she let us know her name was Nishi.

Oh man, so cute! Makes me want to get a second kitty (we've considered it, but not go-cat-viewing seriously).

Congrats on the new addition. :)

She is just adorable!  Does Nishi mean anything specific?  It is a perfect name for her :)

It didn't mean anything when she chose it, but we've found out since that nishi means "West" in Japanese. Kinda like how with our last cat, we found out later that bosco means "forest" in Italian.

Thanks for the love everyone! I get my dose of kitten cuddles over breakfast and when I get home for work!
