Tier 4 General Student Visa
« on: July 23, 2012, 12:35:54 AM »
Hello!

I have the biometrics appointment tomorrow! This is the last step in the visa process so I just want to make sure I have everything I need.

I am planning to overnight the following documents to the Embassy in New York:

1. Print out of online application, signed and dated.
2. Filled out Appendix 8.
3. 1 passport sized photo (which will be US size because Walgreens does not have UK size)
4. Loan letter: original and copy
5. Passport: original and copy

This is it right? I'm not forgetting any documents?

Thank you in advance!

I believe we're supposed to have two passport photos- and write your name on the back of each photo. Since we're from the US we're "low risk" applicants and don't need to include things like loan letters. But still need to make note on the application that you have those documents ready should they be requested, which you probably already did.
I have a visa folder of everything I have so far, most of which I won't even need to include in my app.

Yea, I saw the thing about 2 passport pictures right before I sent it off. I did, however, forgot to sign my name in the back :| I hope this isn't a big deal. I will go crazy if they decline my visa for it. I overnighted it today so it should get there tomorrow at 10.30 in the morning. I thought I would be relieved after sending everything but now I'm even more freaked out because I am scared that the smallest mistake will get me denied... and I DO NOT have the money to pay for it again.

Ahh good luck! Applying for mine next month... I wouldn't think that not putting your name on the back of the photo would be a major deal. Your name will already be listed several times in your application anyways. It's a good thing you overnighted it- the earlier they receive it the less time you'll have to wait for a decision! My nerves are frayed too from this university/visa process and I'll just be glad when it's over.

Oh I know! This whole process, from the moment I received the acceptance e-mail, has been NERVEWRECKING!

Were you able to get the CAS problem sorted out??

Right! It's so much to think about, even if I try to relax and focus on one thing at a time.

Yeah I'm paying that ridiculous fee deposit this week so I can get my CAS. Can't believe I misunderstood that all... but if I'm being optimistic about it, that just means that 1000 GBP will accordingly be deducted from my tuition  :)

Of course it will - all you're doing is paying a portion of your fees as a deposit now to secure your CAS.

From the Sheffield University website:

Quote
Before you arrange to pay your tuition fee you must, first of all, have completed the Financial Declaration and paid your deposit of £1000 https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/fee-deposits/app/login . You then need to return to your pre-registration actions to complete your payment plan.  If you do not pay your deposit first then you will have to pay your tuition fee in full ie you will not be given the option to pay your tuition fee in instalments until you have paid your deposit. If you wish to pay in instalments and you have paid your deposit, the £1000 will be deducted from your first instalment.
