Where in Dorset?  I live in Dorchester, work in Bournemouth.

That's quite close to Bournemouth.  What kinds of activities are you looking for?  Do you drive?

Bournemouth has quite a nice beach, also there's Lyme Regis and Weymouth.  For historical places, you're spoilt for choice.  There's Corfe Castle and Swanage, Sherborne Abbey, the Rude Man of Cerne Abbas, Maiden Castle, Thomas Hardy's two houses, lots of National Trust properties (Kingston Lacey is lovely), Abbotsbury, Shaftesbury, and Dorchester are nice historic towns, and of course you're also close to the New Forest, though that's in Hampshire :).  Also in Hampshire are Southampton and Portsmouth, which are both interesting cities.  Lots of places are accessible by train, though for many of them it's best to drive.  There are also things like food festivals and markets and other festivals, etc.  I love Dorset!

I agree i think its beautiful, the towns are all very attractive from what I've seen and I've heard the climate is quite good down here. Obviously bing from Detroit,it's a big change for me but I dont miss it one bit!

Lots of things. Better healthcare was a big plus for me,I've lost too many people to easily treated illnesses to even have respect for US society anymore. I also wanted a less hassled lifestyle, and some architecture older than the 1800's :) I've lived abroad before in Canada, but didn't like it that much as it was still to new to us,but even then my friends were like 'why cone back to the USA??? It's rubbish here??? But I was pining for the u.k more :)

Do you have family/friends there?
How are you settling in now? Are you liking it? Are you there long term?
