There's hundreds and it's hard to know what to listen to at times. What internet radio stations do you listen to, what do they play, and what are the upsides/downsides?
Some of our favs are:
Big Blue Swing: excellent play list that mixes neoswing with the older book, some blues, but rarely western swing. Upside: no feedin when you turn it on. Downside: if you listen a lot, then the rotations become familiar.
WWOZ: New Orleans' radio station. (ok,
Treme got me onto this, but great quirky selection). Downside: since it is a local station, when they do the musicwire of the night's gigs, it can go on forever. V. annoying when you can't go to any of them.
FIP. A French station with an eclectic mix. Not really world music, but cosmopolitan. Upside. just enough French spoken to remind you that it's not an Anglo station.
Antenne Bayern Chill Out. Balearic chill-out, close your eyes and think of the Blue Bar on Formentera.
Biggest disappointment. Why, why, oh way? did CBC Jazz stop broadcasting outside of the country? Every decent jazz station we find bellies up (aka thejazz) after a year or so.
