Hi
As per above, if you ship a US purchased iPod or indeed, any other product to a relative/friend in the US and in turn have them ship it here, you'll be liable for the shipping, import duty, VAT and customs clearance fees. Even with that all added, it'll probably still be £20-40 cheaper than purchasing here. The best way is to have someone/or yourself bring the product with them/you when travelling to the UK
As an aside, the US enjoys cheaper pricing on 'exactly' the same product compared to the UK as it's the worlds biggest market. The manufacturing industries also operate in US dollars which helps things too. There's plenty of manufacturers of products and distributors who will laugh when asked if they will sell/send to the UK as they don't consider such a small marketplace worth their while to bother with! Thus, the UK has more limited choice of products and higher prices overall.
I import and export on a frequent basis and hopefully soon, at a much increased level so I have to keep tabs on these sorts of things!
Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!
