Sim cards in us
« on: December 06, 2012, 06:15:14 AM »
Hi, Me and the girls are going to visit the states for Christmas ;D I am wondering about temporary Cell phone.  Do they have sim cards that would fit my phone that I use in Europe?

Will I have to buy a temporary phone?

Any ideas?  I will also want to receive international calls.  How would that work?

Any help will be much appreciated

Thanks,
Tina

We use tmobile  PAYG when we go- they have the normal size sims but when I got my iPhone I just cut it down.  I think at the time the sim was $10 or something but you got a credit with that.  You could buy it from the store I think.  I'm not sure about other offers this one is fine for us.  Now they offer a package that we typically go with that's something like $30 for texts and minutes and some data which works for us.  I think I've received international calls/ texts without problems.

As long as you have an unlocked dual region phone it'll be fine.  Remember you pay for incoming stuff there too.

Just check that the plug is 110-240 and you'll be fine.  if you are asking about the iPhone then yeah they took care of all that for you.

Recent T-Mobile experience, if still desired !

+ They happily switched out SIMs for me in-store and and made sure things were precisely as I wanted.

+ $70.00 for 30 days of unlimited text/US phone calls/data.

+ Received international calls with no problem; this plan didn't include access to outgoing international calls.

- When out of T-Mobile range, phone service was intact with no further charge, but no data service was available.

- The blanket "No Service" in the top left-hand corner was seen a lot (even in some cities of 75,000+), which surprised me !

Wishing you and your family a lovely holiday  [smiley=daisy.gif]
