Leaving young children behind is a major delemma for me and the problem is made twice an issue because they are daughters.I'm made to feel guilty and to be honest I do feel like I'm being selfish. Electing to have my happiness at the expense of leaving behind college age girls is gut wrenching for me, because they still seem to require my guidance. I can totally relate to your situation. You are not alone. I've been promising my woman that i will move to the UK soon for over a year, but truth be told I am torn between two difficult choices.

We may be facing this as well.  The kids expect us to be moving within the next few years and our oldest had the realization that she wouldn't be going with us (both kids are in Uni and DD is already planning her own next move after graduation in a year).  I think she's more upset with the fact that she is no longer part of the 'adventure' as she was when she was growing up, than us leaving her.  The deal, no matter where and when we go is that we have a guest room and enough money to be able to fly them to us a few times per year and vice versa...

You thinking of staying in Canada or trying elsewhere?

Some opportunities may be opening up for us here in Canada and if not, we'll be looking to go back to Europe.  I'd move back to the UK in a quick second but likely it will be Switzerland as that is the most opportunity for DH is.  We'll see... I'll keep you posted!

Well, I *heart* Switzerland - well, Geneva - the best of Vancouver + Montreal combined, IME.

Whatever happens, good luck and have fun!

I think it is always hard to be separated from loved ones, but if all parties want it to work, it works.  :)
