I'm really hoping that someone can offer advice or point me in the direction of an immigration lawyer who can give advice.

Situation: I've been offered a job in the UK and my husband, a British citizen, will be studying there. I just heard I was refused a settlement visa (not sure why yet, but should know shortly). It seems I have a number of ways to apply for a visa (through marriage to a citizen, job offer, accompanying a student/citizen) but I'm not sure which way would work.

Possible routes: I'm going to check if I can be sponsored. My husband might need to get a job in the UK and delay studying, then we could re-apply for the settlement visa. Can I apply for another visa to accompany him while he studies? I saw the VAF2 application on the UKBA website and plan to do more research on that, could that be a possibility?

There's so many routes, I need help. If anyone has had good legal immigration advice or been in this type of situation, please let me know! Thanks.

Tier 2 (sponsored employment) would be good, if your employer is able to sponsor.  The student thing is a no-go, that's only for non UKCs on student visas.

Which visa did you apply for?

The best thing now is to wait and see why you were refused.

Just got the package -- it was refused due to the financial requirement. I thought we had everything covered -- I applied under the cash savings guideline -- but unfortunately I must have been looking at old guidance because I thought we needed to meet the 18,600 pound mark, not 62,500 pounds. We don't have cash savings of 62,500 and UKBA is not able to take my job offer into account as I'm not the UK citizen. As my husband is studying, he is not planning on working, but he may need to look into getting a job now. I'll check about the sponsoring -- any idea how to find out of there are still Tier 2 visas available, as I know there is a limit? My organization does have a sponsor licence.

If anyone knows a good immigration lawyer to advise, I'd really appreciate it!

You have to speak with your employer about the sponsorship--it's up to them to say if they are able/willing to sponsor you.
