Settlement Checking Service
« on: December 10, 2012, 08:45:05 PM »
I was looking through some information about applying for the settlement visa and I came across a service called "Settlement Checking Service". Can someone give me more information on using this service. It doesn't mention anything about having my biometrics done so I don't know what the procedures are. Also, for those people who have used this service before to apply for ILR, how long did it take for them to make the decision for your application? To my knowledge, via post there is a 6 month waiting period and going in person will have a same day decision, so what is the waiting period for the Settlement Checking Service?

Help please thanks

The SCS doesn't provide a significantly shorter waiting period than the postal application, but you do get to keep your passport and make sure all your documents are in order. You'll get a biometrics letter sent out to you like the postal application as far as I am aware.
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012
