Please help - Accommodation Proof Requirements
« on: January 08, 2013, 01:27:48 AM »
Hi there- I am new to the forum but I wanted to say it's already been incredibly helpful.  Thank you.

My husband and I have an appointment for our Spousal Visa (FLM(R)) fast approaching and no matter where I look - I do not see guidance that explains what is necessary for proving accommodation.  In truth, we did not include any evidence for our fiance visa application and were granted that - however that application was made in the States and this one is being made in the UK.

Where does it state what is necessary for proof of accommodation?

Also- my husband's step-father owns the flat that we live in.  We have a council tax bill that shows the address.  Could someone please point to where on the UKBA website it lists what is necessary for proof?

Thank you so much.

Hi,

Under the new rules, it is not necessary to submit specified evidence of accommodation. If you were granted your fiancee visa under the old rules then evidence will be required.

Your tenancy agreement should be fine or, if it's an information arrangement, a letter from your husband's step father confirming that he owns the property, is happy for you to live there and confirming the number of bedrooms and living rooms in the property. A copy of his mortgage papers and/or Land Registry papers would also help.

If you're unsure, you could take these documents with you just in case they're asked for. It's unlikely that they will be though.
