Errrr....maybe we didn't!

Actually...now I think about it I was a bit worried when we were picking cases off the belt and there was a customs dog sniffing around the suitcases but they gave us a miss!

Ahhhh, I see!!  Quite lucky you were then.  ;)

As a general rule though, folks should be careful trying to bring meat into the US, as you can get a nasty fine!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Just hopping in here with a little fyi - it's illegal to bring into the US or possess within the US a Kinder Surprise egg. I really wanted to take some back for cousins, did some research, and didn't want to be hit with a $300 fine for each one of them!

I ended up taking jelly babies, chocolate coins, uk smarties, jaffa cakes, and turkish delight when we visited in November.  :)

Yeah, the first time my friend travelled to the US, he didn't know about the no fruit/veg/meat rule and he brought a load of food with him to eat on the plane, including Cornish pasties :P.

Luckily I told him before we landed that he couldn't take them through customs, so he ate everything on the plane, but the sniffer dogs at the baggage reclaim still zeroed in on his bag and he was questioned by the dog handler about whether he had any food on him :P.

Can I ask why Kinder Surprise Eggs are prohibited? Isn't it just milk & white chocolate with a toy inside? Thanks.

It's prohibited because of the toy inside.

Apparently it's banned because it contains a "non-nutritive object embedded in it" :P.
