Jicama's available in china town, might be called yam root, or some chinese variation of yam, root, turnip, but never Jicama. Hopefully you know what one looks like :D

Good idea. I didn't think of that. I'll bring a pic to identify the correct item.   :)
Thanks!

Yup, I've grown tomatillos for the past 3 years now. You have to start the seedlings off indoors or in a greenhouse though or you'll never get a long enough growing season. Apart from that, they're super easy to grow and grow like weeds year after year. You'll need to fertilise them with tomato feed, too.

I buy my seeds from Chase Organic - http://www.organiccatalogue.com/Seeds-Vegetables-Vegetables-S-Z-Tomatillos/Physalis/c21_22_43_122/index.html

Fresh salsa verde is divine, but they also freeze ok if you de-husk them, but the consistency is much more watery than fresh.

Nah, PB my crop was terrible last year too! Just a bad, rainy cold summer all around.

ooh, i didn't know this... thanks!  I will have a look at the Chinese supermarket next time.

I once bought a jicama from Cool Chile Co... years ago, when they first started up.  It wasn't on their merchandise list, but i phoned them and asked, and they seemed happy enough to send me one... for a price!  I think they charged me like £5 plus shipping!   That's the last time I ever had it.
