The streaky bacon and the pancetta just aren't the same.  Sadly, neither is the Oscar Meyer from Sainsbury's.  I don't know exactly why...  I had great hopes when I got it, but it doesn't crisp up quite the same.  I looked, and it's processed in Spain.  I suspect that it's got a higher water content in the processing or something....

Trying to eat more healthy so DW is fne with back bacon, she does like the American bacon when we go back but she never mentions that she misses it.
When her daughter came to visit I told her that there was streaky bacon that was like American, so she picked that up and put it in the trolley, she cooked it ok and it was crispy. She didn't make any comment about it not being the same.

Got a friend who moved to the States a couple of years ago and he says he misses British bacon and pork pies - probably the 2 things I'd miss most.

The ASDA in Glasgow from which we get our deliveries has Oscar Meyer bacon.  I wouldn't be surprised if other ASDAs do as well.
