Moving to Durham, County Durham

Hey guys!

Well, it has been an AGE since I last posted! After nearly two and a half years in NW London - my other half and I are moving to Durham!! I am a bit terrified I'm going to freeze to death, but my other half is thrilled since he grew up in Newcastle.

Anyhow, hoping for some inside help here - anyone familiar with the best/most helpful estate agents in Durham? Equally any I would want to avoid?

Also, we would ideally be near the railway station for my husband who will be commuting to London once a month for his job so - any hints as to nice neighborhoods in that area?!

We don't live far from Durham.  Durham is a nice city and the train station, although small, is great for travelling to London/Edinburgh/York etc as it's on the main East Coast Line.

I wouldn't worry too much about being close to the station if it's just once per month, he could easily just park up at the station.

We lived in Durham (well in Bowburn just outside) for 3 years and really loved it.  I agree if he only needs the station once a month a taxi or something would be fine- it has really good east coast links and is easy on/off for the motorway too.

We found it really nice- obviously much smaller than London but easy to navigate.  Do you drive?  We found it helpful to have a car for weekends but DH took the bus to work.  I would suggest if you can find a place on the same side of town you will be working it will make your commute easier if you don't have ti cut through the city centre during busy times.
