Death-Devoted Heart: Sex and the Sacred in Wagner's Tristan and Isolde
I just finished this book by Roger Scruton and it was astonishing. Not only does it give the most thorough rendering of the Tristan legend, but also gets very deep into the co-mingling of erotic love with romantic love and its links with religious symbology. Wow.
It's a long shot of course: anyone else read or is reading this opus?
