ILR granted :)
« on: March 20, 2013, 08:52:20 PM »
My husband and I attended an appointment at the Croydon PEO today. It was all very simple and straightforward. We arrived about 20 minutes early. Went through the 'airport style' security and then got a ticket. We made our payment and then they registered our application. Then my husband went through to give his biometrics. All of this done in half an hour :)
We had to wait about an hour before we were asked to see the caseworker. We had about thousand documents with us (I went slightly overboard!) She only asked for three from each year. She was really glad we both had CRB checks! She also asked for our children's birth certificates (they are British citizens so not really part of the application but I took every single official doc I've ever had so we were ok). She said, 'It all looks good!' and then asked us to wait in the seating area.
She called us back in about half an hour and said, 'I'm sorry we won't be able to do it today...' Then started laughing and said, 'You should've seen the look on your faces!'
A lot of people here have said this before but I would like to say it again. All the staff at the PEO were friendly and very helpful. And I think it really is worth applying in person if its at all possible.
I'd also like to say thank you to all the wonderful wonderful people on here for all of their advice!
I'm soooo pleased and relieved its all over! Well at least for another year :)

YAY! CONGRATS!

I am going there on the 23rd... So nervous!

Your post made me feel a bit better, so, thank you!
“It was when I realised I had a new nationality: I was in exile. I am an adulterous resident: when I am in one city, I am dreaming of the other. I am an exile; citizen of the country of longing.” ― Suketu Mehta.

Married 04/13/11, in NYC.
Applied for Spouse Visa the following week, with express service, and I was approved 4 days later!
Arrived in the UK 05/20/11.
I took the stupid LIUK Test Oct. 2012.
We were granted ILR In Person in Croydon on 04/23/13.
Got BRP 2 days later, in mail box - it just appeared.

Congrats!  The staff at Croydon are definitely friendly.  :)  Your caseworker sounds a bit cruel  :o , but still in good humour.   ::)
