Can anyone in the Manchester area suggest a solicitor or place to go get the parent's consent form notarized for a passport application (DS-3053)?

We've been calling around and get quotes ranging between 65-75 GBP.  Is there an easier/ cheaper way to do this?  Are we asking for the wrong thing?
I didn't think it would be this complicated.

are you talking about the parental consent for a child's US passport? I just had a solicitor friend certify the application rather than notarizing it. Much cheaper and I had no trouble with getting the passport.

Yes-- we've tried asking for that and they keep giving us the high prices??  We don't have any friends who are solicitors to ask.

We just had something witnessed by Stephen Astin at Robert Meaton. They're right on Princess St and got us in quite quickly (it was for our mortgage). They'll give you a quote over the phone, and they were by far the most reasonable out of all the firms I rang. Very friendly as well.
