Proof question
« on: April 24, 2013, 01:57:56 AM »
Hiya, it's been a looong time since I've been here. Anyways, my SO is coming to visit in June, YAY!!! After not seeing eachother for over a year by then :\\\'(, he's never had any previous problems coming to the USA. However, we both always want to be on top of things and I was wondering what my boyfriend should bring with him to prove he'll be returning to the UK?

He is bringing his contract with the hospital he works at, he also has a car and such. Would bringing his contract of work and his proof of ownership of his car be sufficient in your own opinion? I just can't seem to think of anything else he'd need to bring as proof. :/ Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread area, figured since he was travelling it'd go in here, lol.

A letter from his employer stating when he is expected back at work, his flat rental agreement or mortgage, bank statement showing he has enough cash.  I have be never heard of a gone using car ownership to prove anything.

Would asking for letter from his employer really be necessary when he is bringing a contract with the NHS/his job at the hospital? He still lives with his parents and pays them rent so the rental agreement is out, unfortunately. I'll let him know about the bank statement though. I don't see why car ownership couldn't be used since a car is property and they always want you to bring strong ties, aka things you spent big bucks on. /shrug

How long is he visiting for?,i ask because i visit my US girlfriend and have never actually taken any proof as im only staying for 2 weeks at any time,i get asked if i work and how much money i have in my wallet and thats about it,obviously if its for a lengthy time you would need more proof i guess but for two weeks i have never had any problems at all.

Yes, I would say having a letter from his employer saying what day he is expected back will hold more weight than a contract.  The contract doesn't actually prove that he still has the job.
