I loved the 'a-hole cats' remark.  I did actaully LO here at work.

On topic:  Never been grilled on any of my 11 trips to the UK (10 Manchester, 1 Heathrow). Just a couple quick questions and stamped on my merry way.

Totally agree about the US re-entry.  Talk about a-holes...

They're the absolute WORST. Which is why we just bought them a 6-foot cat condo for the flat in London.

The funny thing about US re-entry is that my husband has had an easier time with them than I have. Maybe they just like his beardy face, but still. Bit unfair!

Before I moved here on a Tier 4 visa, I had four visits to the UK to see my boyfriend. Twice in Manchester, once into Birmingham and once into Heathrow. I was grilled only on my first and fourth visit. Interesting to note that my first and fourth visit IOs were females while the second and third visit IOs were males. In my experience, I do think that males are easier to deal with/friendlier than females. I had the easiest entry when I came here on my visa. I showed my offer letter, was asked 2-3 questions, and in and out just like that.
BF has visited the US four times in the past four years and has said that US Immigration is ''horrible'' and very rude. I've flown back into the US through Newark, Chicago, and Atlanta and haven't encountered any problems at all. It's more of a ''welcome home'' thing.

Now that I think of it, the only time I've been grilled at all was by a female IO......

Once I came by boat to the UK and I didn't know the address where I was staying, just the Tube stop.  The IO had a good sense of humour and said 'ah.... so under *** Bridge (station)?'  hehehe.  I said 'sure' and he wrote it (or something) on my landing card and let me go with a chuckle.  :)  Seriously, best IO ever..... except when entering/exiting Canada at a low-traffic land crossing..... those guys (both American and Canadian IOs) have the best sense of humour.   ;D

Made it across yesterday. Bristol must have 99% all female IO's. I saw one male but he was for the EU line. Luckily I ended up with the less bitchy IO. The couple in front of me went to the other girl and they got it hard. Mine played 20 ?'s about what were my future plans with my fiance'. I said we weren't sure at the moment kinda. She made me promise I would leave at the end of my stay and that was basically it.

I'm still semi pissed some one nicked my Hello Kitty luggage tag that I zip tied twice to my suitcase. Ugh. 3rd one Nicked in 2 visits.

I have never had a female IO. My first 2 trips in 06 and 09 I was asked a ton of questions but nothing out of the ordinary. In 2011 for my father in laws funeral I was questioned for close to 30 minutes....with the IO asking me the same questions over and over again. Kind of annoyed me because when he asked the purpose of my trip I said I'm here for my father in laws funeral and handed him the death certificate and a jeter from the funeral home. He couldn't unstated why my husband came out before me....even if he is an only child. In 2012 for my mother in laws birthday party the io just said don't drink too much and fall over in your heels. In february this year when mum was in hospital they were really nice and said they would keep her in their prayers. All these were I'm heathrow before a connection to manchester. In march I flew direct to manchester and it was the easiest.....why are you here? Mum in laws funeral. Ok sorry to hear that.

Never had a problem flying back into JFK
