Nursing school.
« on: July 01, 2013, 06:28:22 PM »
Hey guys!
I'll be moving to the UK next year with my fiancé and I want to start nursing school as soon as I can.
I know that I'll have to pay international school fees if I choose to go before the 3 years is over.
So I will have to pay international fees even if the course I'm taking is covered by the NHS?
Also, what documentation do I need to have on hand to apply to a school?

I'm currently working as a certified nurses assistant, and I'm thinking about taking some classes to become a qualified medication assistant.
Would having experience handling and administering medications give me any higher chances of being accepted into a nursing program?

Nursing programmes and medical ones in general can be tricky because most are sponsored by the NHS.  Typically, because they are funded you can't take the course if you are an international student.

You will need to contact the course and find out if they will allow you to be on it.

I believe it's five years now until you are no longer international fees.  Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Edit:  saw the other post.  Please disregard!

Good point though! I think you are correct about 5 years.

Can you top up to a nursing degree from a US university by distance and then to any overseas qualified nursing requirements in the UK?
