Self employed £19k
« on: July 03, 2013, 11:23:16 PM »
Hi guys  :) we are part way through our visa app and as I am a self employed sole trader I've kinda hit a brick wall  >:( my accountant said my turnover for last year was £19.7k however my profits were only £14.5k

As I understand it you have to show that you earn over £18.6k so im not quite sure if I even qualify ?

i'm a little lost with the wording of it all when it comes to being self employed :o

any help would be great as my wife goes back to the US in a month and im hoping to get the visa sent off a.s.a.p.

      Thank you
Everytime we raise a glass we cheers to the visa.

I haven't seen the full numbers, but I'm sorry to say that what you describe doesn't sound like it qualifies. Turnover doesn't equal income, so unless you want to have your accountant refile with no deductions and pay a much higher tax, you won't make it work. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I hate this system.

Thanks for your reply Cadenza.

This is what I thought but wasn't too sure as the wording is quite confusing,
