NYC to Liverpool
« on: June 24, 2013, 06:15:04 PM »
Hi,

My husband and I are moving from the greater NYC area to Liverpool (or somewhere around there) at the end of the summer. It's a job transfer for him, and fortunately, I've also found a new job :)

Lots of stress right now, as I'm sure others can relate to -- can't do house hunting until we have visas, etc etc. ...We're also moving our two pugs which is proving to be a whole separate hassle!

Anyway, I've spent some time poking around the boards and have found tons of helpful info so far. I have lots more questions...so I'm sure you'll "see" more of me!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard!  :)

I moved to Liverpool earlier in the year, and I've lived in the UK (this time) since March 2012.  I think it's a wonderful city that I'm only just beginning to get to know.  I used to live in D.C. and , like D.C., Liverpool has a lot to offer without being an overwhelmingly large place.

You'll probably already have seen some relevant threads about your visas and moving pets.  I'll keep an eye out for questions from you in the future and chip in if I can.

Welcome, I live in Manchester but the North West is a wonderful place to live. Very friendly and easy going!

Hi NYCtoPL, welcome! ;D

I just shipped our two cats to the UK from California and I'd be more than happy to help if I can. The process is the same except there's one extra step for dogs.

If you have any specific pet transportation questions, just post them here.

Oh, I really like Liverpool - some architecture in the city centre weirdly reminds me of some architecture in NYC - I think Liverpool has always been a city that has been outward-looking towards the US, in a open-minded kind of way, if that makes sense, due to emigration history of the city?

Went there when it was European city of culture - really friendly people and fun city!

Welcome to UK-Y.  :)
