Is your husband in the forces?

Yes it will be quite extreme! I am leaving the flip flops and shorts behind and "Winterizing" my wardrobe. But still looking forward to the adventure!

sorry...wasnt trying to be nosy.  It's just that when you hear US accents in Helensburgh, they are almost always military people.
Hope you enjoy it!

No not nosy, it is the first question from everyone though. It is a popular area for the Military.

Where in Florida are you from?  I'm from New York, but worked in Fort Myers last year for about 8 months before moving to Glasgow in August.  So far I'm loving it, but it took a while to get used to the weather :)  Good luck with your move and let me know if there's anything I can do to help (advice, suggestions, etc etc)
-Katie
I moved to Glasgow from NYC/Long Island August 2012.  And yes, I miss the pizza.

Thanx, Katie! We are in Cocoa Beach. I am hoping I adapt to the weather as well. I know that will be the hardest part, but I am hoping the experience itself outweighs that part. I will take all of the advice and suggestions you have!!

U.S. Military personnel in the Helensburgh area? Thought they closed the US Naval base at nearby Dunoon 25 years ago?. Does this mean they are still around? perhaps hiding at a secret base near Helensburgh? :D. Well, sure wish they would come back to Scotland, they should never have left! :D

Faslane and Coulport are hardly secret!  ;)

(i have no idea why the Americans are there, but they are!  We hear their accents all over town.)

Hi FLBeach!
Obviously Scotland has coooold winters and there's no need to bring all your hot weather clothes but I would throw in the flip flops and a couple of pairs of shorts at least.  It can get quite warm in the summer!

On a hot day when I'm working in the garden, I'll be in shorts and a sports bra... with my work boots...not a good look! ;)
