I am a USC and I have a BA degree from the US. I am trying to enter a teaching credentialing programme in the UK, but keep getting a lot of issues from programme providers stating that my US degree is not an honours degree, which they require.

NARIC has translated my US BA degree as equivalent to a UK BA degree - standard (not honours!)

Does anyone else have any experience with this whole US degree is "inferior" to a UK degree?

Any advice on Americans becoming teachers in the UK?

Thanks!

Get your credentials in the US and then become a teacher in the UK:

From 1 April 2012, teachers who qualified in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States of America (USA) will be recognised as qualified teachers and awarded qualified teacher status (QTS) in England without being required to undertake any further training or assessment.

That's not going to work for you as you are already here. Have you asked the teaching programs what they recommend?

Sorry. I should have clarified, I am already living in the UK on a spousal visa.

Also, I am wondering what your degree is in? Is it a topic that is 'teachable' here, IYKWIM? Is it a teaching degree? Could you speak to the local college / uni to see how to top-up to an honours degree?
