FLR(M)#1 approved at PEO on 5 June... no BRP yet?
« on: June 22, 2013, 11:19:04 AM »
First of all, yay!  I had an in-person FLR(M)#1 application at Cardiff PEO on June 5th and was approved, thanks to the invaluable assistance of this forum!  Now I have just under thirty months before I get to do it again.  ;)

Meanwhile, it's June 22nd, and I still haven't received my Biometric Residence Permit in the post.  How long should I wait before I contact them?  I don't have any plans to travel, I'm not trying to get a job, and the expiration date of my fiance visa is still a few weeks away, so I can show that and/or the letter Cardiff PEO gave me if I need to prove that I'm allowed to be here for any reason.  Still, though, I really thought I'd have my BRP by now.  Is this typical?  I just want the permit so I can have the peace of mind that this process really is complete for the moment.

EDITED TO ADD: I just found this on the UKBA website, so I think I'll be composing an email:
Quote
What should you do if your biometric residence permit is not delivered?

If you have not received your permit 10 working days after the date on your letter from us extending your permission to stay in the UK, you should email BRPDelivery@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk. In your email you should state:

    your full name;
    your date of birth;
    your nationality;
    your passport number;
    your case reference number;
    the delivery address for the permit; and
    a contact telephone number.

If you do not provide all this information, there may be a delay in answering your query.

Oh #$%$&!  I think I just discovered why I don't have it "yet".  My husband and I did our application to kick off our brief honeymoon.  I just read this thread.  It didn't occur to me that my BRP could arrive so quickly -- a couple of days!  So we got married on Tuesday, went to the PEO on Wednesday, then spent the rest of the week/weekend camping in the Lake District.  We were back the following Tuesday, so only 4 working days after the appointment.  I feel rather stupid now.

Still, whoever the courier was didn't leave a card or anything.  There's been nothing to indicate a missed delivery.  I will email.  Blargh.

Follow-up post to let you all know how it went...

I emailed on June 22nd to inquire about my BRP, and got an auto-response immediately, and a longer reply from them on June 26th saying "We have experienced a high demand for Biometric Residence Permits which has resulted in some delays in the production and delivery. Your BRP will be delivered within the next 3-7 working days."  Feeling somewhat reassured that we had not missed a delivery attempt while on our camping holiday honeymoon, I resumed waiting.  And my card was just delivered!  It says it was issued on 26th June.  So the timeline goes like this:

5 June: FLR(M)#1 application at Cardiff PEO approved
22 June: emailed my concern that BRP still hadn't arrived, auto-response back
26 June: reply from BRPDelivery email explaining delay
26 June: BRP issued
28 June: BRP arrived at my door

Woohoo!  Congrats, jfkimberly!   ;D
Thanks!  It's such a relief.  Now I can turn my attention to... the thing I just noticed in your signature!  You passed your driving theory with 49/50?  What did you use for study materials?

I've used the 'Official DSA complete Learner pack- electronic version' to study.  :)  It's got a CD with Theory Test questions, a DVD with Hazard Perception practices and another DVD about the practical test.  :)

Like this one:

I basically just went through the practice questions over and over again and referred to the Highway Code book every so often (or if I was out and wanted to study on the bus or something).  :)  I borrowed the CD/DVD pack and the person loaning them to me said the same thing- just go through the practice questions over and over (and look at the Highway Code occasionally).  :)

Good luck!  :)
