East Coaster living in Dorset
« on: July 27, 2013, 08:48:48 PM »
Hi everyone! My name is Heather and I'm newly registered though not really new to the site. I've frequented the forums in the past when I faced various brick walls along my journey to getting my ILR. I figured after 3 years of visiting the site, I may as well just sign up and participate in conversation!

I've been living in Dorset for just over 3 years now and have been through the wringer getting here! I've experience Heathrow detention (10 hours!) and entry refusal, then a visa refusal. Then after marrying my partner it took a very stern letter from my immigration lawyer and a spouse visa to finally get into the country. In April of last year I then had to go through the expensive and gruelling process of obtaining my ILR. I must say, this forum and others like it were the only way I could get helpful information (I'm sure many of you are aware of how unhelpful the UKBA are!). Needless to say, my husband and I have endured a lot of stress in our first 3 years of marriage, but at least all of that mess is behind us....

I've recently come across the issue of credit building now. woohoo. One hurdle after the other, eh?

Hi Heather, where in Dorset do you live?  I'm in Dorchester.  Glad you registered on UKY!

I thought I had a mind numbing drive to work...yours is longer than mine! I'm a zookeeper and work out near Wool....20 minute drive each way with good traffic. Much longer if I get caught behind a tractor or a tank! lol!

Well, I take the train, so it's not too bad.  I used to ride with a colleague, though, and the slow tractors were definitely an issue!
