Hotels In Paris?
« on: November 06, 2004, 08:23:24 PM »
Hi Guys,

When Dave comes back in January, as a belated 1st anniversery celebration we're going to Paris!!!!   I've look back in these pages to see if there were any threads about recommendations for Paris hotels but I couldn't find any...

Can anyone recommend a nice and fairly romantic hotel in Paris?

Thanks,

Maureen

What area of the city were you interested in possibly staying?

I don't have any recommendations off-hand, as the only time I've ever been, we stayed in a place that wouldn't first be described as "romantic."  ;D

What a lovel idea!!   [smiley=smitten.gif]

[smiley=idea2.gif] I have stayed at Hotel Cecilia several times when I have been in Paris - It is my hide away when I want to get away from things and relax. The rooms are not big but they are comfortable and have most of the bits and pieces that you would want (and a bath so deep I need a floatation device!!).

It is very central to the heart of Paris so you can walk to most of the landmarks, and if you get a front facing room you can see the sunrise behind the Arch de Triomphe - which is so close you can almost touch it.  A few minutes stroll brings you to the top of the Champs Elysees and I always stop at Chez Clement for my favourite desserts, and a good meal.  Subway connection are excellent from there if you want to go further afield.  The Front Desk at the hotel can also help you book any special trips as well, mid-night meal on the river cruise, anniversary dinner in the Eiffel Tower just ask.

Well I've sent some links that might help - have a wonderful time, good luck and an advanced Happy Anniversary! [smiley=love.gif]

Thanks Guys,

I have no idea where to stay as I've never been and just have started looking at sites about Paris.

Here's the hotel I've been looking at so far. It's in the left bank and sounds wonderful...

We stayed here last year  http://www.about-paris-hotels.net/paris/Hotel-Aberotel.asp

I liked it and the district it was in. It's not right in the centre, so is a little cheaper, but is near a metro station and only 5 minutes or so metro ride to the Eiffel tower.

Hi Jade,

No there really isn't anything special that we need to do or have.  I just can't wait for him to come home... But you mentioned dinner on top of the Eiffel tower and actually that sounds really very romantic and special so perhaps we'll do that one night.  I would also like to do Le Procope one night which is right near the hotel I posted and perhaps Moulin Rouge...

Thanks everyone for your input please keep the ideas coming!!

Thanks,

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

You will love the Moulin Rouge did it a few years ago, the Lido in the Champs Elysees is a good spot too, especially with the dinner floor show.  Something else you might want to consider if you cant get the meal on the Eiffle Tower there is a company who do a dinner ride down the Seine followed by a midnight boat ride around the major landmarks all lit up with coloured spotlights,  Notre-Dame etc, bring a blanket and they normally have champagne available too.

I will try to think of other stuff for you - its been a while since I was there, so you may need to do more looking around to find out who is handling booking of these treats.

Enjoy!

We booked on last minute as well.  Inexpensive with hotel and flights from Heathrow for three nights it was £250.00 for the two of us.

Remember that you more than likely not be in the hotel that much any way.  So much to do!

That's debatable depending on HOW romantic you want the weekend to be.  ;)

;D Let's put it this way it will be a belated 1st anniversery celebration.  My husband has been out to sea since August communications have been rotten and I won't be seeing him until just a week or two before we go.   ;)

I don't think I should go any further  ;)

Just adding that we do plan to see a lot outside the hotel room too  ;)
