Form 1116
« on: August 04, 2013, 01:23:26 PM »
Different question - on filling out Form 1116, which I'm trying to do myself. I get US Social Security and take distributions from my IRA and 403b. For my US return, this income is re-sourced to the UK. I pay UK tax on it but because that tax isn't figured until I fill in the UK tax return at the end of the year, I have to pay UK estimated tax on this income. The estimated tax never the same amount as the tax actually paid.

On my US return, there's a separate 1116 for re-sourced income. My question is - for this form, how do I figure the amount of UK tax paid : given the payment of estimated tax, given that the actual amount of UK tax I pay is 'net' after taking deductions and allowances but most of all, given the overlapping of the UK/US tax year. These are not large amounts of money - is there a simple way of calculating this?
