Peter Capaldi is the 12th Doctor
« on: August 04, 2013, 07:47:58 PM »
I'm quite excited for this.  It'll be nice to have a Doctor who's a bit older, and Peter Capaldi is fantastic in everything.  I think his Doctor will have a bit of an edge.

So what does everyone think?
On s'envolera du même quai
Les yeux dans les mêmes reflets,
Pour cette vie et celle d'après
Tu seras mon unique projet.

Je t'aimais, je t'aime, et je t'aimerai.

I'm not a Dr Who fan whatsoever, but I LOVE Peter Capaldi, and expect he'll probably be great in that role.

I'm very excited, as is DH.  He's seen Peter in more things than I have, and says he is very good.

We were floored when they announced it last night!

It's very cool.  We were pretty much expecting that the next season would take a darker turn, and I think this decision confirms that.  I think it'll be brilliant!

The trailer looks very good (warning : contains profanity!)

p.s. Not a fan of Dr Who, saw the first series when it was brought back, loved it as a kid in the 70's and he reminds me of my fave doctor, the one I recall the most, Jon Pertwee!

Tom Baker!
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

TykeMan, this is exactly what was making my husband giggle furiously the second they made the announcement.  ''There's going to be mash-up videos!"  ;D

I really liked David Tennant, and I didn't dislike Matt Smith.

But I loved the intensity that Christopher Eccleston brought to it, and I'm geeking out pretty hard right now because I know that Peter Capaldi is more than capable of bringing that back.

David Tennant (and Matt Smith) could easily make you believe that The Doctor had seen some terrible things over the centuries.  But Eccleston, and I'm betting Capaldi as well, can make you believe that The Doctor was the terrible thing.

I am extremely excited, I've been watching old Capaldi films/shows to celebrate, including the bonkers Lair of the White Worm and Neverwhere (which I think he is quite Doctorish in). It also doesn't hurt that I think that he's completely dreamy, to the horror of my husband.  ;D
It is difficult to speak adequately, or justly, of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent... the biggest aggregation of human life, the most complete compendium in the world.
