Hi everyone. I just found this group and became a member.  First off, please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong spot.  I'm really not very good at figuring all of this out.  I've been here two years, I'm from Pennsylvania where I met my W. Yorkshire husband while he was employed there through his UK based company. I just got my ILR on Friday. I have a question that I'm sure someone on here could help me with.  I could kick myself for not asking it on Friday but with all of the excitement I never thought about it.  The agents were very warm and friendly too.  I have tried to contact the UKBA in the BRP branch but I keep getting an automated reply.  Anyway, I came in on a spouse visa, I use my married  name for everything, and put that down as my surname on my ILR application. My passport and my BRP are in my maiden name.  The passport expires  in about 3-1/2 years.  I just would like to know if I may continue to use them until it comes time to renew my passport then change both at that time.  Thanking you advance and glad to be here.

Welcome!

Yes, you can still use your passport in your maiden name. Just be sure to book all travel using the name in your passport, not your married name (if you go by that too). Once your passport expires, you can get your new one in your married name and use that one for travel, just continue to carry both passports since your visa is in your original passport.
