NY to London
« on: August 21, 2013, 11:16:19 PM »
Hi all.

Probably of the least original of "from's" and "to's" but I'm a big city kind of girl. :)

I moved here about four years ago on a Tier 1 visa, but then met my husband within weeks of getting here, and we were married a year to the day after I arrived.  I didn't have a job when I got here, but was supremely lucky to be headhunted straight away.

Fast forward four years - I have been so work/travel/Welsh husband busy, I'm just now sticking my head up for some air and wanting to meet some new people.

I do love my area of London, and most days am amazed I somehow pulled off living here.  I also really love just how accessible Europe is.

I look forward to conversing with you all and contributing to these forums.

When I used to be on a motorcycle forum you listed your bikes here.  On the travel forum the countries you'd been to.  Photography, your cameras / lenses.  Somehow here it's bureaucratic BS survived!  Tier 1, fiance/spouse visa, ILR, AHHH!!!!!!  I feel like putting the fees...

I dont see anything wrong :)  I didn't comment because I am moving to Liverpool (be there sunday YAY)  and it is a bit of a hike.  Sometimes the posts get buried.  Good luck meeting people :)

Welcome - welcome!  :)

I think you just joined the board at a time when we were heading towards the bank holiday weekend, not to mention that we've actually had a summer this year, lol - and things tend to get a bit quiet around here at times!  :)

In the crazy mad rush for visa advice (where the board is busiest, it seems), I think the Welcome Wagon gets overlooked, unfortunately.

Glad to hear you've settled in though, maat1976!  :)

Sorry!

Wasn't begging for attention here.  :)

THanks though.

Welcome from another NYer. Your story is actually quite similar to my own (though my DH is English, not Welsh...hehe). We live in SW London.

I moved in Sep 2009 on a Tier 1, met DH on the first night in the country and we've been together since. (Got married in Aug 2011; applied for spousal visa in Feb 2010).

I know the feeling about getting bogged down in work stuffs, particularly of late. It sometimes makes me feel a bit guilty that we don't actually go out every single night to enjoy the offerings of this fab city! :)

And yeah...I still get that feeling (often, in fact!) of 'holy cow -- I can't believe I actually live here!' hehe... PM if you ever want to meet up!
