Rugby League World Cup
« on: October 24, 2013, 04:52:26 PM »
Starting on Saturday is the Rugby League World Cup and the USA will be playing for the first time. If you havent seen this sport, its not Rugby Union played in a league format, its a diffrent game, with rules closer to football (American). The USA will be playing the Cook Islands on October 30 kickoff 8 pm, Wales November 03, kick off 2 pm and Scotland November 07, kick off 8 pm. You will need to have Premier Sports to watch the games as the BBC are only showing England and Wales games, but not the one against the U.S.A. But they do have a highlights programme where you can watch some of the games.
If you dont know the game each side has 13 players on the field and 4 interchange players who can come on to replace a player at any time, each team can only make 12 interchanges per game. The attacking team has 6 downs (called tackles) in which they have to score, if they dont the ball is then passed to the opposition. The ball may not be passed forward, only laterals are allowed. A team gets 4 points for a touch down and 2 for the kick afterwards.

USA has surprise win in their first game in the World Cup, beating the Cokk Islands 32 - 20.
America played well against a small nation, but whos major sport is Rugby League. Was suspicious about some of the American players, who didnt seem to know the words to the national anthem.
Did anybody go too the game there looked like alot of Americans in the crowd in Bristol.
