Prescription Meds not in Prescription Container
« on: December 26, 2013, 02:53:04 AM »
I am coming back into the UK after going to the US for the holidays. I put all my meds in one Advil bottle (easier than taking six different bottles) and am worried that my anti anxiety meds (diazepam) will cause trouble for me at customs. I obviously have a prescription for them but I will NOT have it on me when going through customs. What's the likelihood of this causing issues?

Not sure on the legality here, but I use a single container to carry my prescription pills OTC Pain pills. The chances are extremely slim that you will be asked to open the bottle and explain the contents.

I do this for short holidays rather than can carry the 90 day bottles my meds come in.

Chances are slim, but, particularly in the case of anything that might be considered a controlled substance, I think you're probably safer keeping it in your prescription bottle.

I travel often, and my husband used to fly somewhere or other nearly every week, and neither of us have ever been asked to open a pill bottle. In fact I have never thought about the possibility of this happening, and I don't have the original pill packets anyway. Fingers crossed your trip will be as uneventful as ours have been.

I agree with the others. Chances are prob very slim. I have traveled extensively and have never been asked about my prescription medication.

Chances may be slim, but you are supposed to travel with proof of your prescription, so you might be wise to bring something if you can.
