Old NI number - still valid?
« on: January 05, 2014, 05:49:50 PM »
I have an NI card from 1999 when I worked in the UK as part of the BUNAC scheme.  This number was entered on my EEA partner application (as well as the reasoning as to why I had it).  Is it still valid or would I have to get a new one?

Also, does anyone know how soon an EU partner would be able to apply for an NI number while looking for work?

Someone may know more specific information than me...but I know when I had my appointment for my NI number the person doing my application said it would be my number even if I left and came back .

I had a number from 99 with Bunac, when I came back in 06 and it was still my number.

We had been living in the USA for 25 years and I wanted to check our NI numbers and found that we could so simply by writing off to the UK.

Have you looked at the website about checking your NI record?

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/ni/intro/check-record.htm#5

You may even be able to check from overseas using their secure email service
