spouse visa questions
« on: February 01, 2014, 07:19:08 PM »
I will be glad when all this is done. I keep running into more questions as I go through the application. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1) I use to work for USPS. When it asks about working for government would that be considered working for government?

2) This is probably a stupid question, but I want to make sure. When it says place of issue for passport does that mean United States or some where else?

3) When I will be doing the actual fiing my spouse will be visiting me here in US. so do I put the UK or the US when it says where is your sponsor now?

Thanks again for all the help you guys give to us. The UKBA website can sometimes be very confusing.

1) You would have been considered a federal employee but the USPS is run like a business and is self-supporting, no money from tax payers.  But you should do some research before answering. Maybe call/email someone who can provide application support.

2) Its listed as the authority in your passport, should be the United States Department of State

3) Depends on how long your spouse is visiting… If its just a short trip and her residence is in the UK, then I would think you would list your spouses permanent address as they are sponsoring you
American girl meets British boy 9.18.06 and they fell in love in the US | 7.18.13 he gets sent back to UK | 7.30.13 they got engaged | 8.2.13 she applied for a UK fiance visa | 8.6.13 biometrics | 9.11.13 UK fiance visa received! | 9.18.13 she moved to the UK & they reunited after 2 months of seperation | 11.15.13 they got married | 12.24.13 she applied for spousal visa | 1.10.14 Biometrics | 2.4.13 BRP received!| now they are living & loving together again <3

Not quite.

For question 7.20: 'Where is your sponsor now?' you put where they are, physically, on the date that you submit the application.

So, if he is with you in the US, then you put the US - even if he is just on holiday for a short trip.

If he is not with you in the US when you apply, then you put the UK (or wherever he is at the time).

The guidance for 7.20 says the following:
Quote
7.20 Where is your sponsor now?
Please tell us which country your sponsor is currently in.
