My boyfriend and I are hoping to get married in the states (so my family can be present) on August 30th. After the wedding, he and his family will be returning to the UK and I would stay in the states to apply for a spousal visa. He would like to bring his documents for my spousal visa application when he comes before the wedding. He will have his August payslip for evidence of meeting the financial requirements on the 17th, but not his bank statement before coming over. Will this cause a problem?
He must provide the most recent statements and payslips that he has been issued on the date you apply for the visa online. The most recent statement MUST be dated within 30 days of your online application date. So, if he receives his next bank statement between the time of flying to the US and you applying for the visa, it must be included.
Either he can overnight it to you in the US when he gets back to the UK, or alternatively, when you mail your documents to the UK, you can always mail them directly to your husband, and then he can add any extra documents he has received since returning to the UK and then mail the documents on to UKBA in Sheffield for you.
Also, what can we use to show that we are genuine? We have been in contact for 2 years and loved and supported each other through a lot. He's been here to see me twice and I've been over to see him once and will soon be going for a short visit again. We have photos of us together, emails, texts, phone logs... Are we supposed to include all of these things? Do we show that we talk frequently or do we have to show the conversations as well?
Do not send ANY actual conversations. UKBA don't want to know what you talk about, just that you are in regular contact.
What you need to send is:
- one or two photos of you together (maybe wedding day and one other photo together)
- evidence of trips to see each other (boarding passes/flight itineraries)
- any letters or cards you may have sent each other
- evidence of regular communication between you while you have been apart (phone bills, a couple of screenshots of your email inbox showing a selection of email subjects and dates covering the 2 years, a couple of screenshots of Skype call logs etc.)
