Sole Representative Visa
« on: February 08, 2014, 08:23:15 PM »
Hi All,

I'm having a hard time finding information on the UK visa process. I'm an american and my wife is Brazilian. I just submitted an online application for sole representative which seemed to go fine and I scheduled my biometrics appointment.

Now I am online trying to figure out what form to use for my wife. I tried the following two forms
  * Dependents of current work permit holders
  * Dependants more than 6 Months

In both applications they ask for sponsor - And husband is not an allowed sponsor so I can't complete the application and am incredibly confused what I should do.

Thanks for your help.

Neither of those apply to that visa. UKBA states you use the same application form for dependents as you used for yourself.

Depending on the country where you live, you may need to make your application online or using application form VAF2. To find out which method you should use, see 'More information' below.

Your partner and any dependent children aged under 18 can apply to come with you to the UK or join you here. They should also apply online or using application form VAF2.

So I would just use the sole representative form for her too? That easy?

I know they are both form VaF2 but online it doesn't say VaF2. You have to go into the form through the online promts. So maybe I should just use sole representative application for her too.

VAF2 is the paper form. You use the same sole representative form online.

So relieved and appreciate you taking the time to help. Should I put on a cover letter that my wife is coming with me or will they figure it out from my employment letters and the fact that my wife doesn't have a job lined up in the UK and I do?

Again - thank you so much you are a godsend.

1 more post - thanks for reading. I promise to post about my experience once approved I hope. I am also applying for my wife's extended greencard and her reentry permit. The process is so much clearer in the US. They won't even tell you what forms to fill out in the UK.

So here it goes:

For the sole representative visa - what documents are required. A consultant told me just the employer contract is sufficient for my application but i was thinking of including the following for my wife's application:

1. Tax returns in the US
2. Bank accounts with both my wife and my name - average balance is about 2,000 US dollars in all of our accounts
3. Marriage certificate
4. Greencard
