Hi Kate,

Small world - I live in Long Beach and long to move to Scotland when I retire in 8 years! And my sister used to live in Somerville. Funny!

My husband is from England and has been here for 9 years. The parking in LB makes him absolutely mental!  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

I wonder if you know my friend in Island Park who is British. She lost her home in Sandy, I hope your home was okay. My dad lived in LB when he was a bachelor boy, they've lived in Merrick now for 40 something years. I love LI!

Wow, small world indeed!  I hope you weren't affected too badly by Sandy.  My folks live in the east end of town and were out of their house for 7 weeks.  I see online that they're starting to rebuild the boardwalk, hopefully it's back up sooner rather than later.
Where in Scotland do you want to retire to?  Is it a real possibility, or is it more of a dream?
I moved to Glasgow from NYC/Long Island August 2012.  And yes, I miss the pizza.

Wow, I guess I never came back to this thread, so sorry! I don't know any Brits in Island Park, sorry. But I happened to have grown up in Merrick and I teach there now. How funny!

Again, sorry I never revisited this thread! I guess it's a half dream/half possibility. We're either retiring to New England if we stay over here, or my dream is Edinburgh if we retire over there. :)
