Hi!
« on: February 06, 2014, 03:50:53 PM »
I'm going to be what I hope is refreshingly honest...I'm only on here in hopes of finding homes for a bunch of American stuff I still have that I don't need anymore.

Brief background - came here in 1985, so next year I'll have been here for 30 years.  I'm a little past the initial transition stage...

Thing is - I'm having a clear out and I've got a bunch of NTSC vhs tapes (Disney) and a few american spelling kids books.  None of my relatives back in the States have kids young enough to want them.  Selling on the US version of ebay seems silly as the shipping costs will be far more than the items are likely to be worth.  And, of course, vhs tapes are "old tech"....

I'm wondering if there's anybody on here who might appreciate or be able to make good use of this stuff?  Seems a shame to just throw it all out.

Not sure where it would be best to post the list, though.

  Suggestions?

Thanks

Hi again - I know I'm sounding ruthless and not very friendly.  But I have to make myself keep going with this clear out.  Mostly because it's a job I hate doing and if I let myself start reading posts and replying....it won't get done.  Like it hasn't been done in the last 15/16 years.  So please forgive my ruthlessness for now.  And if you can think of anybody who would be happy to have anything in the list below...please, because otherwise I'm going to have to throw it out.  When I get this done - then I can let myself relax and be friendly and explore this lovely new site.

Here's the list:
The books:

Disney’s Chicken Little, the essential guide (a DK book – I can’t even remember if that’s US or UK..)
The Little Red Caboose (well worn, somewhat tattered, but gc for a book that was 2nd hand when I got it)
The Favorites – a collection of stories and articles selected by editors of children’s magazines.  This was part of a writing for children distance learning course
Dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures
Dinosaurs of the Land, Sea and Air
The Farm, a pop-up book
The Night before Christmas – also a pop-up book
The Zoo – a pop-up book
An Adventure with Billy Bunny (a peek and find book)
An Adventure with Morris Mouse (also a peek and find book)
The Russian Ruby (a pop-up whodunit)
Welcome to Santa’s Toy Shop (pop-up book)
Sleeping Beauty (pop-up book – somewhat the worse for age)
The Ugly Duckling (pop-up book – also somewhat the worse for age)

The tapes:  (I’m certain these are NTSC)

Mickey’s Christmas Carol
 Treasure Planet
Digimon, The Emperor’s Last Stand
Bambi
Robin Hood
Toy Story 2
Digimon The Movie
The Spirit of Mickey
Lady and the Tramp II Scamp’s adventure (for some reason I have 2 copies of this one)
Cinderella II (Dreams Come True)

If you don't get any takers on here I recommend you try selling on Gumtree, or giving away on Freecycle. Its amazing what people will buy or take off your hands!
