Spousal Visa document name change?

Hey everyone,

I am a female getting married next week to my male British fiance, and then I'll be applying for the spousal visa shortly after.

I was wondering if anyone knows if I need to get all my documents (passport and such) with my new last name before I send in the visa? I just got my new one in January and would rather not pay hundreds of dollars for another new one again, but I'll do what I have to.

Any help or tips would mean so much!

You can change your name on your US passport for free if it's been less than a year since you renewed it.

If you want to change your name, I would do it before you apply.  Otherwise the visa will be issued in your maiden name.  If you wanted to change it after it's been issued, it's a few hundred £ and a couple of months wait.
