Hello from Dorset
« on: May 14, 2013, 07:55:08 PM »
Hi! I'm Tim in Christchurch, Dorset, UK and I will be going to the US to fly back with my fiancée, Karen, in the summer. I've found the site really helpful and I'm sure that we will both want to post to pass on hints and tips that we come across in the future.  We are just waiting for the (hopefully) positive outcome of a fiancée visa application having just received an e-mail from the UKBA in Sheffield to say that the application and documents have arrived. Best wishes to all and thanks to all the posters whose experience and knowledge have been so helpful so far and, no doubt, will be in the future too :)

Hi Tim!  I live in Dorchester.  I hope your fiancee likes living in Dorset as much as I do!

Welcome to UKY!

My husband and I live in Salisbury, but we love going out to Hengistbury Head which is not too far from where you are. (:

Best of luck on the visa application, and I hope you two find out soon - the wait is a killer!

Hi Historyenne and Heyjay and thanks for the warm welcome. My fiancee's ancestors actually came from Dorchester several hundred years ago so we will be investigating that for sure! I used to live in Weymouth a few miles south and we will be going to an am dram open air performance at Poundbury a week after we fly to the UK. We have been to Salisbury already when Karen came to Dorset for the first time at Christmas. Cathedral of course and pantomime at the wonderful Playhouse. A wonderful area all round!  Looking forward to lots of great times together and in and around Dorset!  :)

Oh, I almost forgot Heyjay, Hengistbury Head is lovely. I saw the total eclipse from the Head back in 2000.  It is a mile or so away from us with lovely views over to Christchurch and across to Poole, Purbecks and the Isle of Wight. Thanks for your encouragement, getting everything submitted and waiting and wondering is nerve wracking! I'm sure it will be fine in the end.

I should have said earlier that I really like Christchurch!  I work in Bournemouth as an EFL teacher, and whenever possible I take my students to Christchurch for a cream tea at the New Forest Perfumery and a walk around the harbour.  They always love it!

Wow, what a coincidence, my son has just started a CELTA EFL course, yesterday, possibly at your establishment  :D .  You are right that there are lots of things to do on the doorstep. The tea rooms at New Forest perfumery are lovely although I try to resist the cream and scones side, usually unsuccessfully! Nice to meet you here historyenne :)

My wife and I are possibly moving from Florida to Poole/Bournemouth in Spring 2014.

Hope all is going well
