Friendless American in Hampton

I've lived here for over a year and a half now and still haven't made any friends. Is it the people? Is it me? I'm from north Georgia and moved here with my husband and two kids. I'm a stay at home mom so I go to the children's center a lot but still no luck finding friends. Is anyone out there close to me?

Are you on FB?  There are numerous Expat groups you could join.  I think most are closed groups, but if admin can tell from your profile that you're American I think they'll let you in.  I know that's how many Americans find others in their area.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble finding people to connect to.  I know since we have been married, my British husband has complained that Americans just don't get him.  We live in Georgia [Duluth] and I'm from here. I'll be in your shoes in 19 short months, just not exactly sure where in the UK yet. Keep me posted on how it goes, k?  I had planned on finding a way to volunteer, I think.

I understand the feeling. I've been in the UK for two years now and just managed to make friends only recently. I signed up with meetup.com and met some expats in the area. Now of I could only make friends with the locals then I'd be set. It's hard though as a mom. I thought that would make things easier for me to make friends (with other moms and whatnot) but I find it makes things harder for me. Probably just my own doing though. Where exactly is Hampton anyway?
