Moving from Vegas to England!!!

Hello peeps!  My name is Melissa & later this year I'll be moving over to the UK to be with my fiance.  I have visited the UK twice before and I love it there!  We have only been engaged 2 weeks as of yesterday but have already been looking into visas, moving my 2 cats, plus all my stuff over.  He is going to moving from Lincoln to around Brough due to his work.  I appreciate any advice especially with any suggestions on shipping companies.  Also, if any of you live in the area of Brough, Hull, or York please say hi and any information you'd like to share.  Looking forward to the next chapter in my life!  Thanks in advance!

About moving your stuff over, that was my orig. plan as well, but rethinking that I decided to sell or donate most of my stuff.. You have to remember the electrical, voltage, & outlets are different over there. Might be easier just to start fresh with a lot if stuff ...

Feel free to ask if you have any questions about readjusting, I'm not an expert but I have done it (or technically doing it)

It's funny ... My daughters name is also Melissa and she sometimes uses the same nickname ... She was named after the song "Sweet Melissa"

I still want to visit Lincoln, the pictures that Paul (my fiancé) have sent me are beautiful.

As far as taking old stuff vs getting new stuff, I'm not bringing most furniture or appliances so will donate.  I do however have quite the collection of Disney & Michael Jordan to bring over.  I plan to get rid of as much of anything els as I can as I have way too much anyway lol.

Oh believe me I know ... I love my collections ... Do you know when your move will take place ? I have been doing the 6 months here, 6 months there for the last few years and we now finally meet all the qualifications to get my spouse visa .... I am so hoping to be able to go back before the desert heat really kicks in, which at the rate it's going, will be really soon ...

We're hoping within 6 months.  He was just here for a visit and we're meeting up in Ireland next month for a visit.  He just found out about his new job a few days ago so he has to start on his RAF retirement, sell his house, and then move for the new job.  Need to see in dealing with the RAF how long it will all take.  The nice thing is since it will be a new city for him also I won't feel like an "add on" to his life.  He wants to rent till I'm over there and then we can find a new home together and explore the new city together as well.  And yes, it's already hot here...ugh.  Which visa are you trying to get?  The family of a settled person one?

He's in the RAF? Which base? I work at RAF Waddington... In fact, I'm on base right now, coming to the end of a night shift (I'm a civvie but I work closely with the pilots and air traffic).

LOL I misread that .... I'm going to blame it on watching Grey's Anatomy ... LOL... Yes that's what we are waiting on ... A decision has been made but my return envelope has been held up in customs for over a week ... A problem with my return label and it's driving me insane ....
