Part-Time work on Tier 2 General
« on: May 01, 2014, 10:10:59 AM »
Hello!

So I've been here on a Tier 2 General visa for about 2.5 years now, and I've got an opportunity for some part-time work in my field. It looks like it's permitted:

You can:

do a second job in the same sector and at the same level as your main job for up to 20 hours per week

First off, I'm just curious if anyone else has done this, and if there's any paperwork or notification you need to give the government first?

Second, I've got some particulars about my situation:

1) I work in publishing, full-time; this part-time job would be writing a book. However, it wouldn't be paid hourly—it would probably arrive as a single payment. And it would be from my current employer.

and 2) This isn't a job on the shortage list.

I predict my first point might be troublesome.

Anyway, anybody got any experience with this? If it's the least bit risky I'm not interested. I've got to renew my visa this year and I want the whole thing to be perfectly legit. Any advice would be welcome!

Many thanks,

-F

Quite a few have on this site

The posters on there should be able to give you the answers to your questions.
