Softball players wated in Birmingham
« on: April 21, 2014, 07:09:04 PM »
Hello -

I play softball for a CO-Ed softball team called the Birmingham Bobcats. We are currently in the midst of a recruitment drive for new players, especially women.
You don't have to be able to play softball - we can teach you, and we have gloves available to borrow.
Practice is every Thursday at Hallfield School in Edgbaston, Birmingham, starting at 6:15 and we play til it's too dark to see.

We play tournaments on weekends.

It's a great group of people, Brits and lots of American Ex-pats, and there are couples and fathers and sons who play and families.

Please give us a go -

It brings a little bit of home back for those of us living far away.

I so wish I lived close to Birmingham. I would totally play. I grew up playing softball and used to play on several tournament teams. If you know of any leagues in Sheffield, I'd be interested to know!

Hey - There are A LOT of teams in Manchester, and some in nottingham - are those too far away?

We play tournaments on several weekends, all over the country - do you drive? You could always play for us as a "ringer" as you sound like you already know how to play ball.....

Our team especially need women. It's Co-ed, and we have A LOT more guys than girls.

You interested? There is a women only tournament in Birmingham on Saturday, 12th July......any chance you could come play for the day?

Unfortunately, I don't drive.  :-\\\\ The ones in Manchester and Nottingham may not be too far, actually!  ;D

I actually prefer co-ed for some reason. Keep me posted on tournament dates and I will always see if I can make it.

Let me have a little think about the women only tourney in Birmingham.

I'm playing next weekend in Portsmouth - it's been 2 years since I've played, so I'll let you know how it goes - we'll see if the "ringer" is still alive in me!  ;D

I will do. Our team always needs ladies, especially ladies who can play a bit.....

Good luck at your portsmouth tourney! Who are you playing for? What's your preferred position?

I'm playing for the Dodgers - I think it's within the Solent Softball League.

I prefer 1st base, but I can play almost anywhere except 2nd base (I'm left-handed).  ;D
