Is anyone else paying a mortgage in the US while in the UK?

My house is being shown to prospective buyers.  My husband has up till this point wired money to my checking account in the US and then I paid the mortgage from that account.  I'd like to know if I could wire the money directly to the mortgage company and cut out the step of sending it to my US checking account first.  Have any of you any experience with paying a mortgage from afar?  This is new to us and I don't want to make a mistake.
